12 weeks - Had my blood results today from tests done on the 26/10/07 and my antibodies have dropped??? to 7.3 iu??? I am seeing the consultant on friday and I am going to ask to have the levels retested. I dont understand how or why my antibodies have fallen. Has there been some mistake perhaps a number has been missed perhaps its 27.3 ??? I am very confused however if it is correct how wonderful I have gone from high risk to low/moderate risk of HDN I am also having the babys blood group tested through my blood done on friday too so will log back on and let you know how it goes. i have also developed erythema nodosum and on penicillian VK its basically big painfull lumps on my legs been signed off work for a bit as cant walk hope it goes soon but perhaps my immune sysytem is busy fighting this instead of my baby?? not sure how all this stuff works. see what happens fingers crossed for good news

STILL 10 WEEKS - Had a bit of a scare today I was at work when Irecieved a phonecall from the hospital saying my consultant wanted to see me could I get there in an hour!!!! I dropped everything and went up there. I met with the consultant who told me as my rhesus antibodies had risen from 13.8 to 18.2 iu my care would now be transferred to Kings college hospital in london. I was now high risk of HDN and they would be able to answer my questions much better and let me know the courses of action and outcome of my pregnancy. I have been referred to the Harris Birth right unit and have an appointment there in 4 weeks. I also had a scan at the hospital to confirm my dates he said 9 weeks and i said 10 I was right I am exactly 10 weeks pregnant I saw two little legs two arms a head a torso and a bum and most importantly a little heart beating away. It brought tears to my eyes my little girl (not confirmed but just have a feeling) in there fighting away. Seeing her made it all seem real. I left in a bit of a daze I still have blood tests next week to see how much my antibodies have risen and in two weeks another scan to do a nuchal test (to test for downs syndrome) I cant wait to see my baby again.

10 WEEKS - I have just had appointment with my midwife at my surgery not too good really I have slight trace of blood in my urine. This will be investigated further in two weeks when I have an appointment to see my consultant at the hospital. I hope it isn't the babies blood and mine mixing??? I also have a raised white blood cell count indicating an infection of some sort. I have had a slight cold which could be that or is it my blood attacking the baby and it is seeing the baby as an infection? is it my white blood cells that attack the baby. Midwife hasn't really got a clue as she has never dealt with this before. I have also been told that as my antibody titers are 18.2 i am now high risk of HDN (Hymobolic Disease of the Newborn) midwife didn't know what this stood for either!!!! She didn't know where Id give birth have to check that out when i see the consultant she also thinks I will probably have to have a c section. Really don't want a c section I have a five year old boy I will have an unwell pre term baby I want to be up and about not recovering from surgery!!! Have more blood tests next week for my antibody level week after that a scan, fetal blood typing and consultant appointment and two weeks after that more blood tests and after that another midwife appointment!!!

5 WEEKS – I discovered I am pregnant bit of a shock as I am on the pill (have to say I’m not a good recommendation for contraception my son was conceived through a condom!) I am very worried as I know I have rhesus antibodies C, D and E. I carry a blood card around with me. However I am with a different partner I hope that his blood type might be Negative but I know there is not much hope as there isn’t many of us out there.
6 WEEKS – I am referred to a consultant obstarision I don’t feel he knows very much as he tells me have nothing to really worry about its easily managed and my last doctors painted a very worst case scenario. He sends me for blood tests the normal ones and the antibody ones. He has seen my notes for about 5 minutes before seeing me. I am told I will have to have blood taken every 4 weeks to measure my antibody levels.
7 – WEEKS – I discover my blood has had to be sent to ST Georges hospital in Tooting as my hospital cannot check the antibody levels they can only detect that they are there it has taken a week to get my results. I hope it isn’t going to take a week every time I get them checked. I am very upset to discover that my anti D antibody level has risen from five years ago being 13.8 to now being 18.2. The midwife tells me not to worry and asks me to come in for a maternal peripheral blood test. (A blood test taken from me to discover the baby’s blood type) I go in and have this done and told results should be back within 48 hours. I telephone that antenatal clinic 3 days later and I am told that the maternal peripheral test cannot be done until I am 12 weeks pregnant. It is not a normal test to be done and they have never done it before I do wish they had checked first or at least let me know instead of me waiting for days thinking I’d get a few results.
